Springfield Catholic High School Christian Service offers students a chance for recognition for service to their local parish and community. Philosophy: Being a Christian means living out our faith in the Church and in our community. Christ calls us to a real concern for the poor. Springfield Catholic encourages students to participate in volunteer service projects in their Churches and in the community at large. We also recognize that service at Graduation time.
Criteria: Volunteer service means that the work is done on the students’ own time without pay. Areas of service are faith community (parish/church), school community (Springfield Catholic), and secular community (home town) Each grade level has a required number of hours. The service completed must be written up on a time sheet and signed by an adult supervisor. It is the student’s responsibility to record all hours of service. Freshman need a minimal of 10 service hours, Sophomore need a minimal of 15 service hours, Juniors need a minimal of 20 service hours, and Seniors need a minimal of 25 service hours.
